A meeting was held in the City Administration to discuss the proposal for establishing Kastel as an independent institution, marking the start of a new chapter for this important cultural heritage of Banja Luka.
The mayor’s advisor, Milada Šukalo, emphasized that Kastel is entering a new era, one that includes restoration, expert support, and connections with legends that will make it an even more attractive destination.
“The new era of Kastel begins with restoration, expert support, and the magic of legends, creating a cultural destination that will amaze visitors from around the world,” Šukalo said, adding that the team presented a project through which the City of Banja Luka successfully secured 300,000 KM for the reconstruction of two towers in Kastel.
The advisor highlighted that the goal of the city administration is to ensure professional support and cooperation in all future activities at Kastel. Therefore, representatives from relevant institutions, such as the Tourist Organization, museums, and the Institute for the Protection of Monuments, were consulted. This collaboration aims for a quality approach to the restoration and preservation of this cultural treasure.
In addition to the reconstruction of the towers, the discussion included plans for new attractions, particularly the construction of a Temple of Love dedicated to the legend of Safikada. This story of love and loyalty, Šukalo noted, could be especially appealing to visitors from around the world, making Kastel an essential destination.
“Kastel will become a place for visitors not only to see but to experience, through the richness of culture, legends, and renovated spaces. This is just the beginning of a major transformation,” concluded the mayor’s advisor.
