The cooperation with Russia is cultural, economic, political, and parliamentary, stemming from long-standing traditional ties rather than temporary alliances. This approach will continue, with no intent to harm anyone, while nurturing our mutual relations, stated Nenad Stevandić, Speaker of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska.
Stevandić, who met this morning with Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the Russian State Duma, and later with Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council, emphasized that the cooperation between Republika Srpska and Russia is not directed against other nations.
“Our cooperation respects the specificities of Republika Srpska, its surroundings, as well as European integration and the position of all countries in the UN. We have observed recent votes in the General Assembly and the implications of the U.S. elections, indicating that the global situation will change. I am pleased that we presented Republika Srpska as a sovereign and independent entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina that does not oppose other nations, preserving its subjectivity and independence, which will carry forward into future international relations that are likely to be more understanding of our actions,” Stevandić stated.
He added that the meetings reviewed previous visits and discussions around parliamentary cooperation in areas of international law, social sciences, economy, and modern technologies—all crucial elements for future collaboration between the Russian Federation and Republika Srpska.
“We also reflected on the international situation, which seems to be moving towards a different world order. We are pleased that Republika Srpska and its National Assembly, although they may appear small in some eyes, contribute significantly on the international stage, developing policies aimed at achieving better understanding and a safer world in the future,” Stevandić emphasized.
