Dodik: Republika Srpska to seek project funding from BRICS

If funding cannot be secured through European institutions, Republika Srpska will, in the coming months, seek to obtain financial support for certain projects through the BRICS Development Bank. In his first interview after returning from Kazan, President of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, shared this perspective on the Drugi ugao show. He emphasized that Srpska’s participation in the Kazan Summit was crucial for exploring alternatives to the financial instruments that the West and the United States use to impose conditions.

President Dodik also highlighted that, in his meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, he reaffirmed Republika Srpska’s stance against approving sanctions on Russia.

Unlike other meetings where conditions are imposed, Dodik noted that at the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Srpska—though present as an observer—was treated with respect and regarded as a friend.

“We learned how the BRICS bank can operate, and in the next few months, we’ll strive to implement projects through BRICS financial instruments, projects we previously sought to fund via European institutions. We’ll leverage friendships to request that certain projects be financed by the BRICS Development Bank,” Dodik stated.

His meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin underscored the significant support that Russia provides to the small entity of Republika Srpska.

Dodik said that their discussions focused exclusively on mutual relations, with no discussion of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“When the cameras were off, we discussed matters that I still can’t disclose. I had no intention of discussing issues like Konaković’s deceptions or Bećirović’s statements regarding BiH. I was clear in expressing that Srpska will not agree to sanctions or visas for Russian citizens,” Dodik emphasized.

Dodik also relayed claims from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, joined by the U.S. embassy, alleging that Russians are training individuals for unrest in Moldova. To address these narratives, a meeting was immediately held upon his return in East Sarajevo.

“The meeting aimed to inform the public that there are no camps in Srpska. This is a malicious attempt to destabilize us, a setup to shift the focus onto property issues, as they seek to seize our property. Their main issue, however, seems to be how to remove Dodik,” said the President.

Efforts to remove Dodik also involve a political process in the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Aware that the case lacks any legal basis, Dodik is confident of an acquittal. If faced with a politically motivated decision, he expressed readiness for a political response.

“We know what we will do. Everyone should be aware of that. There’s a consensus among us on how to act. Let them try, let them proceed. If it’s a political decision, we have the right to a political response. We will respond politically,” Dodik emphasized.

Dodik warned that the recent overriding of Srpska’s representative in the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, when Komšić and Bećirović proposed and passed the Draft Law on State Property, is yet another attempt to seize Srpska’s assets. He stressed that they had no legal right to propose such a law.
