President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, emphasized that the trial against him in the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a politically motivated process aimed at removing him from the political scene.
“This process has no legal foundation, and I am confident that the verdict will be an acquittal. I agreed to appear in court because I am certain it will result in an acquittal. The prosecutors in the Court of BiH lack any legal integrity,” Dodik stated in the show Drugi ugao.
He added that there are no legal grounds for conviction, only political motivations.
“The court must consider the law. This is an unsustainable legal case, entirely politically motivated. We know what we will do. Let everyone know right away. We have a consensus on our next steps. So, let them try. If this is a political decision, we have the right to respond politically. And we will respond politically,” Dodik told RTRS.
Addressing claims from the opposition in Republika Srpska that “Dodik is not Srpska,” Dodik noted that while he may not be the entity itself, he is its president.
“I didn’t earn this role by playing basketball; I signed a decree while fulfilling my duties. Imagine being prosecuted for performing your role. Life here is impossible with the way they’ve set things up in BiH; it’s bound for failure,” Dodik remarked.
He further stated that instead of making BiH the place envisioned by the Dayton Peace Agreement, some are actively undermining it.
“Srpska openly committed to Dayton, demonstrating our dedication to the international agreement, while their approach is the opposite,” Dodik said, adding that Sarajevo’s political survival is tied to his presence.
