The Minister of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, Siniša Karan, highlighted in a Srna podcast that terrorism remains one of the security challenges in Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing that in recent years, there has been no serious terrorist act in the world without a connection to BiH, whether through logistical support to the perpetrators or the origin of the weapons.
“You also have a large number of individuals prosecuted for going to foreign battlefields and for being members of terrorist organizations, which cannot be ignored. This is always a danger, especially in BiH, where there are significant political conflicts over the status of BiH and the status of Republika Srpska,” Karan warned.
Reflecting on his recent visit to Moscow, Karan said it exceeded all expectations and is particularly important due to the profound friendship between the Russian Federation and Republika Srpska, as well as the kinship between the two nations, which is crucial at a time when both Russia and Srpska are under unprecedented pressure to undermine their constitutional systems and order.
“This relationship is not only emotional, traditional, and historical—although it predominantly is—but also stems from the Russian Federation’s positions, primarily in the UN Security Council and previously in the Peace Implementation Council, where Russia consistently stood behind Republika Srpska and did not allow its collapse or the erosion of its constitutional order,” Karan emphasized.
He particularly highlighted the moving experience of the reception in the center of Moscow, where the anthem of Republika Srpska, “Moja Republika,” was played during the parade.
“I greeted them with ‘Pomoz’ Bog, junaci!’ and they responded, ‘Bog ti pomogao!’ I felt as if we were in Zalužani,” Karan said.
The Srna podcast, in which the Minister of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska also discusses cooperation with the Ministry of Interior of the Federation of BiH, the Ministry of Interior of Serbia, as well as the challenges faced by police officers, will be available tomorrow at 10:00 AM on Srna’s YouTube channel and social media platforms.
