Schmidt no longer favored by Bosniak politicians

In the Federation, there is an uproar over the statement made by Christian Schmidt, who mentioned General Ratko Mladić and wartime Muslim leader Alija Izetbegović in the same context while discussing the curriculum in Republika Srpska.

For political Sarajevo, this is scandalous, while from Republika Srpska, the message is clear: the falsification of history must be stopped.

And the question arises, what does Schmidt have to do with education in Srpska?

Christian Schmidt wants to interfere in everything, including the education system in Republika Srpska. He complained on a Sarajevo television station that it “breaks his heart about the two schools under one roof.” At the same time, both the heart and soul of the Bosniaks were hurt because Schmidt mentioned Ratko Mladić and Alija Izetbegović in the same context. There were also some gaffes.

His statement has raised political Sarajevo. Everyone from SDA to the infamous “Troika” stands united, as for them, Alija Izetbegović, who sacrificed peace, is a national hero.

Meanwhile, messages from SDA claim that an attempt is being made to strip Bosniaks of their honor and dignity.

“We will not allow that. Good and evil, truth and falsehood, cannot be equated regardless of the unfair calculations of a part of the international community in BiH,” they emphasize in SDA.

Those who know who Alija Izetbegović was are well aware within the international community. President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik reminded that several cases for war crimes were opened against Izetbegović, as confirmed by Carla del Ponte in her book. However, the question remains, what does Schmidt have to do with the curriculum?

“It is absurd and beyond reason that there are countries and peoples who accept this, but in the abnormal BiH, this is happening. However, some good things are also occurring — alongside the chaos caused by that figure, the Bosniaks are nearing the realization that they can no longer rely on the international community. We await the moment when they fully awaken and accept the fact that only together can we create a better environment, and that the agreement among the three constituent peoples is the essential prerequisite for further progress in BiH,” says Dodik.

“We expected a witch hunt from the Federation as soon as the interventionist politics no longer suited political Sarajevo,” says delegate in the House of Peoples of BiH, Radovan Kovačević. Instead of being focused on the centralization of BiH, I urge them to confront the truth.

“The notion that only some are criminals while others are victims is far from the truth. Alija is responsible for the war. It is evident that he sacrificed peace, but BiH for which they sacrificed themselves will never be achieved,” emphasizes Kovačević.

Historians are explicit: there is no agreed history! Confronting the truth and facts is inevitable. The sobering up will be very painful for those who have based history on the fabrications and constructions of the international community.

“Alija Izetbegović, even though an indictment was raised against him, would not have been prosecuted; they were waiting for him to die because that did not fit into the plans of the International community, which decided both then and now about the fate of this region,” emphasizes Draga Mastilović, director of the Institute of Historical Sciences at the University of East Sarajevo.

As long as foreigners create laws and decide the fate of the people — BiH will remain on a dead-end track!
