Promotion of the book about Gligorije M. Jeftanović

In the Cultural Center Banski Dvor in Banja Luka, the book “Giant from Sarajevo. Gligorije M. Jeftanović and his Time,” authored by Jovan B. Dušanić – Lipljanski, was promoted this evening. The book discusses the representative of Serbs in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the period of Austro-Hungarian occupation.

“This is a time of struggle for church and school autonomy, where Jeftanović was the undisputed leader of the Serbs, almost forgotten among us—a colossal figure who did much for the Serbian people, as well as for his ancestors and descendants,” said Dušanić.

He noted that Gligorije M. Jeftanović is the central figure in the book, but this edition also covers his ancestors and descendants.

The book promotion was attended by Marko Romić, advisor to the President of Republika Srpska, Željka Stojičić, Minister of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska, representatives of the Serbian Educational and Cultural Society Prosvjeta Banja Luka, as well as workers from the fields of education, history, and culture.

Gligorije M. Jeftanović was a Serbian national leader from Bosnia and Herzegovina at the turn of the 19th to the 20th century, who fought for church and school autonomy during the Austro-Hungarian rule.

Dušanić’s work was published by the Archives of Republika Srpska, the Association of Archive Workers of Republika Srpska, and the Historical Archive of the City of Novi Sad, with the support of the Republic Secretariat for Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Culture.
