Military analyst from the Center for Socio-Political Research of Republika Srpska, Milan Milaković, stated today that the already questioned authenticity of the origin of the drones presented in BiH reflects, to say the least, incompetence, which is also mirrored in the provocative rhetoric of the current Minister of Defense in the Council of Ministers, Zukan Helez.
Milaković reminded Helez that soldiers from Republika Srpska also serve in the Armed Forces of BiH.
He emphasized that Helez’s statements about allegedly domestically-produced unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), whose significant combat effectiveness has been recognized in modern warfare, might have gone unnoticed had he not previously made public appearances on various political issues, often with inappropriate connotations and uncertainties.
Milaković particularly pointed to Helez’s statements, which highlight specific circumstances surrounding the potential combat use of these drones, referring to them as “kamikaze drones” or “grenade platforms.”
He stated that such comments understandably raise the question of whom these statements are directed at and how they should be interpreted—whether as a direct threat aimed at Republika Srpska.
- “Aside from the possibility that this is a cover for other activities, a logical reaction from Srpska would include considering the development of its own capabilities in this area,” Milaković told Srna.
Yesterday, the portal Kliks reported that the drones recently presented at the Zenica Economic Fair as products of the Center for Technical Technological Testing from Sarajevo were imported from China and have no connection with BiH.
Minister of Defense Zukan Helez denied this information, claiming that BiH produces its own drones at five locations, and that this is no secret, but he did not specify where the production takes place.
Dušan Vještica, director of the company “Kosmos” from Banja Luka, stated to Srna today that, to his knowledge, none of the factories in BiH with which they collaborate have the technology for drone production, as it is highly specialized.
