Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev have sent letters to President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik.
In his letter, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized that the Russian Federation, as one of the guarantor states of the General Framework Agreement (Dayton Agreement) for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in 1995, prioritizes the consistent implementation of this international legal document, which plays a key role in maintaining stability and security in BiH and the Balkans as a whole.
“We are following with concern how Western actors persistently undermine the Dayton principles of BiH’s internal structure. We are witnessing active attempts to diminish the inalienable constitutional rights of the constituent peoples. It is clear that Republika Srpska, along with you personally and your associates, is primarily under attack because you defend the legitimate and internationally recognized interests of the Serbian people and resist the neo-colonial policies of the West,” Lavrov wrote.
Lavrov reiterated Russia’s determination to continue its principled and responsible approach to defending the Dayton Agreement, strengthening peace in the Balkans, and fostering equal and mutually beneficial cooperation with Republika Srpska.
He wished Dodik resilience, courage, and success in his patriotic endeavors, while extending wishes of happiness and prosperity to the Serbian people.
Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev, in his letter to Dodik, also expressed deep concern over the situation in the Balkans and BiH.
“We regretfully observe the revival of former colonial practices by the West, which seeks to establish total control over the peoples of the region and turn them into voiceless and disenfranchised satellites, obediently following external commands,” Medvedev stated.
Medvedev added that the determination with which the Serbian people stand against aggressive Western policies, defending their national interests, commands immense respect.
“Effectively, you personally are on the front line of a new stage of the national liberation struggle, courageously resisting external pressure that often crosses all conceivable moral, ethical, and legal boundaries,” Medvedev noted.
He expressed confidence that the Russian and Serbian peoples will, through joint efforts, ensure the triumph of traditional values, equal rights, and constructive cooperation.
“I wish you and your associates strength and new successes, and I wish the people of Republika Srpska peace, stability, and prosperity,” Medvedev concluded in his letter to President Milorad Dodik.
