First youth conference in agriculture: A path to the revival of villages and families

The first Youth Conference in Agriculture of Republika Srpska, held in Obudovac, part of the Šamac municipality, marked a new beginning for the development of rural areas. With over 200 participants from 43 municipalities, the conference confirmed the determination of young people to stay in rural areas and improve agriculture.

Organized by the Youth Agripreneurs Network, with support from the Ministry of Agriculture and other institutions, the conference fostered discussions on the modernization of agricultural production, preserving tradition, and connecting young people with institutions that support them.

“This is a generational project for the revival of villages and families,” the organizers emphasized, noting that this will become a traditional event aimed at supporting young people in their agricultural ventures.

The conference was opened by the Minister of Agriculture, Savo Minić, who announced the creation of a new body for cooperation with young farmers and the development of agricultural measures that will enable the survival and growth of rural areas.

Supported by significant institutions, including the Chamber of Commerce and the University of Banja Luka, as well as partners such as microcredit foundations and IFAD, the conference set a new standard for improving agriculture.

During the event, the “Golden Ear” awards were presented to the most successful young farmers, further highlighting the importance of youth as key drivers of future development. The organizers reiterated their commitment to continue working until every family in rural areas feels tangible support and improved living conditions.

The conference demonstrated that with youth, knowledge, and strong institutional support, significant progress can be made in agriculture and society as a whole.
