Bubić: Trial continues tomorrow

The trial of the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and the acting director of the Official Gazette of Republika Srpska, Miloš Lukić, will continue tomorrow before the Court of BiH, said Goran Bubić, the defense attorney for the President of Republika Srpska.

Bubić stated that at tomorrow’s hearing, scheduled for 1:00 PM, Dalibor Panić, Secretary General of the Government of Republika Srpska and a member of the Board of the Official Gazette, will testify as a defense witness for the second defendant, Lukić.

At the previous hearing held on September 18, Boran Bosančić, Secretary General of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, testified that no one, not even the director of the Official Gazette, has the authority to prevent the publication of laws passed by the National Assembly. If such an attempt were made, it would be considered an attack on the constitutional order. Bosančić, who is also the chairman of the Board of the Official Gazette, emphasized this during his testimony.

Bosančić further stated that the Office of the High Representative (OHR) cannot order the blocking of laws in Republika Srpska because its authority does not extend to such actions. He added that the legislative process in Republika Srpska is defined by its laws and constitution.

After the hearing, attorney Bubić remarked that Bosančić’s testimony demonstrated that the High Representative has no formal role in the legal system of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

President Dodik commented that it is Kristijan Šmit who is violating the law, while the legal system of Bosnia and Herzegovina is being undermined by the Prosecutor’s Office and compliant prosecutors.

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH accuses President Dodik and the acting director of the Official Gazette, Miloš Lukić, of “disregarding the decisions of Kristijan Šmit,” leading to the ongoing trial at the Court of BiH.
