The famous Banja Luka ćevap has now officially been protected with the label of a guaranteed traditional specialty and registered in the Register of Guaranteed Traditional Specialties.
The decision was made by the Food Safety Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and published in the Official Gazette of BiH on September 12 of this year. The request for its protection was submitted on March 22 of this year by the Association for the Preservation of Guaranteed Tradition of Banja Luka ćevap Specialties.
“The Commission determined that the submitted request is complete and justified,” states the decision published in the Official Gazette of BiH.
This decision means that every individual producer of the product under the name Banja Luka ćevap, as well as every participant in the production, processing, and distribution chain listed in the Banja Luka ćevap product specification, must carry out the process of compliance confirmation with the product specification through an authorized conformity assessment body.
