Gradiška’s Tea Kovačević is the new queen of Europe

Sensational young tennis player from Gradiška, Tea Kovačević (14), achieved yet another remarkable success in her career by winning the European Championship (U14) in Most, Czech Republic. In the final, Tea defeated the top-seeded Czech player Jana Kovačková 2-1, after losing the first set 7-6. Tea made a stunning comeback, winning the next two sets 6-4, securing the title of the best young tennis player in Europe.

This victory marks Tea’s first triumph against her biggest rival and is yet another milestone in her sensational season, where she has already claimed four U14 titles and five in the U16 category. With this title, Tea secured her place at the year-end Masters in Monte Carlo, where the top eight female players will compete.

Tea’s path to the final was impressive, not losing a single set. She defeated Sara Mitevska (North Macedonia), Ana Pirscher (Austria), Andrea Olariu (Romania), Paola Celorio (Spain), and Laura Čulmska (Czech Republic) in the semifinals.

It is worth mentioning that this tournament was previously won by tennis greats such as Novak Djokovic, Iga Świątek, Ivan Lendl, Martina Hingis, and Carlos Alcaraz.
