Prime Minister of Republika Srpska, Radovan Višković, emphasized in his message to Serbs on the occasion of the Day of Serb Unity, Freedom, and National Flag that preserving the Serb people, wherever they live, along with their unity and harmony, is an imperative for all generations—both present and future.
Višković highlighted that the Day of Serb Unity, Freedom, and National Flag is one of the most important holidays as it unites and brings together Serbs.
He expressed immense pride and happiness that Republika Srpska, together with Serbia, the homeland of the Serb people, is celebrating this joint holiday for the fifth time.
- The holiday we celebrate every September 15, which marks the breakthrough of the Salonika Front, should serve as a lasting reminder that Serbs are one people, no matter where they live around the world, and that it is essential for us all to work tirelessly on our unity and cohesion, which are the foundation of our survival – Višković stated.
The Prime Minister of Srpska reminded that the Serb people have achieved their freedom through great victories but at the cost of enormous sacrifices, recalling that Serbia lost nearly one-third of its population in World War I, according to the statement from the Office of Public Relations of the Government of Srpska.
He also noted that the Serb people have sacrificed millions in numerous wars, fighting not only for their own freedom and the right to live on their ancestral lands but also for the freedom of other oppressed peoples.
- The spirit of freedom has been present throughout our history, including the most recent Defensive Homeland War, where we were once again forced to defend our freedom and our ancestral homes – Višković emphasized.
He pointed out that the Serb people have always been on the side of the free world, making great sacrifices and strongly believing in the idea that all Serbs should live freely, no matter where they are located.
Our history has shown us that only when united can we be strong and withstand any challenges set before us – Višković stated.
On this holiday, Višković added, a strong message of unity is being sent, not only between Republika Srpska and Serbia but among all Serbs, wherever they may live around the world.
- The unity and strong ties between Republika Srpska and Serbia are a precondition and guarantee for the survival of Serbs in these regions, and they also serve as a clear message that the Serb people, no matter where they live, must not forget their roots, history, language, and Christian Orthodox faith – Višković concluded.
