Republika Srpska was the first in Europe to face the Mujahideen and their ideology, which left behind horrific torture and killings of Serb civilians and soldiers, yet Europe turned a blind eye to it.
This was stated by the Minister of Labor and Veterans’ Disability Protection of Republika Srpska, Daniel Egić, who added that, according to available information, six mass graves have been found in the areas of Ozren and Vozuća, with 233 identified Serb victims from 1995.
“Europe turned a blind eye while someone played with Serb heads in Ozren. This was never condemned by democratic Europe or the world embassies that now label us as genocidal,” Egić pointed out.
He reminded that the Hague Tribunal sentenced the commander of the General Staff of the so-called Army of BiH, Rasim Delić, to only three and a half years in prison in September 2008. Delić passed away during the appeal process.
“The Court of BiH concluded the case against the commander of the Third Corps of the so-called Army of BiH, Sakib Mahmuljin, under whose command was the notorious ‘El Mujahideen’ unit. He was found guilty of war crimes against civilians, the wounded, the sick, and prisoners of war, and was sentenced to only eight years in prison. After the verdict, he fled to Turkey,” Egić noted.
He also reminded that the Court of BiH issued an international warrant, but Turkey refuses to extradite the BiH citizen.
“This is yet another proof that there is no justice for Serb victims in BiH. However, we will never forget our victims, nor will we stop talking about this. Our future generations must know what happened, what the truth is, and why their fathers, grandfathers, and uncles fought and died for Republika Srpska,” Egić emphasized.
The traditional march “Paths of Exodus,” symbolically reminding of the 1995 events when the Serb population of Vozuća and its surroundings was expelled from their homes, will be held tomorrow.
Serbs from Vozuća were expelled from their ancestral homes during the offensive of the so-called Army of BiH under the operations “Hurricane,” “Farz,” and “Badr el Bosna.”
The mass suffering of the people of Vozuća occurred between September 10 and 24, 1995, during the offensive of 23,000 Muslim soldiers from the Second and Third Corps of the so-called Army of BiH and the “El Mujahideen” unit, supported by NATO bombings and rapid reaction forces, including the Pakistani contingent of international peace forces.
More than 30 Serb villages were burned, 1,920 Serb families with 7,680 members were expelled, 459 soldiers of the Army of Republika Srpska and civilians were killed, and many remain missing.
The fall of Vozuća marked the completion of the ethnic cleansing and expulsion of Serbs from the Zenica region, which began in 1992.
