Srpska successfully withstands economic pressures

The Republic of Srpska is successfully withstanding all economic pressures, maintaining a stable budget, with all obligations being met regularly. According to officials, there will be no economic collapse, as hoped by the U.S. Embassy.

Regarding the actions of Ambassador Michael Murphy, Željka Cvijanović, the Serb member of the BiH Presidency, warned that the U.S. ambassador, like all other ambassadors in BiH, should operate in accordance with the norms of diplomatic law.

  • “I have particular concerns when I see ambassadors taking on the role of leading campaigns instead of the opposition, which happens frequently. There is a general need for consolidation within BiH, which means everyone should know their place. The elected representatives of the Republika Srpska are the ones who make decisions in BiH because they are elected by the people. Diplomats assigned to BiH should serve in a diplomatic manner,” Cvijanović emphasized.

Despite the undiplomatic actions, political and economic pressures from the U.S. administration in Sarajevo against the Republika Srpska and its institutions, the economy and budget of Srpska remain stable. All legal obligations are being fulfilled regularly, assures Prime Minister Radovan Višković.

  • “Everything that is happening recently will one day be behind us. We just need patience to overcome the imported crisis and withstand all the pressures exerted on Srpska. Without these new pressures and attacks, we would live comfortably because there are only about a million of us, and we possess many valuable natural resources that have caught the eye of those same people who are now pressuring us by tightening financial valves. However, we also have many friends who are ready to help us. It’s tough, but we will endure,” Višković emphasized.

Višković also pointed out that, due to its flexibility, the economy of the Republika Srpska is preserving its potential despite global crises, a sentiment shared by the Chamber of Commerce.

  • “What is important for us is to try, through future measures and actions of the Government, to preserve this potential. It is essential to maintain fiscal stability in the budget to ensure that all social benefits are paid to social categories and employees on the budget. In this regard, we need to find solutions that will support maintaining economic activity at this level,” said Goran Račić, president of the Banja Luka Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Račić further emphasized that, in addition to preserving the economic potential of the economy, efforts should be made to ensure that, after overcoming global crises, Srpska is ready to return to the European market with preserved production programs.
