The 67th Festival of Festivals Concluded in Trebinje

The 67th Festival of Festivals, a showcase of the best achievements of amateur drama theaters from Republika Srpska, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Croatia, has concluded in Trebinje.

The play “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” by the Drama Studio of Theatre 011 from Belgrade was declared the best overall performance.

In addition to the Golden Mask for the best overall performance, the expert jury also awarded the Drama Studio of Theatre 011 the audience jury prize from Trebinje. The Belgrade theater also won the Golden Mask for the best supporting actress.

“I didn’t expect it because I’m a foreigner in this country, and I’m very happy. I’m still not aware, I can’t express myself properly,” said Marina Marder, a member of the Drama Studio of Theatre 011.

“I am so happy that I’m trembling all over. I’ve been dreaming about this since 2017 when we first came to Trebinje. To be the best among the best is truly an immense joy. I am speechless,” said Nataša Radonjić, director of the play “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”

However, the jury awarded the most Golden Masks to the play “Orchestra Titanic” by the Trebinje City Theatre, which won in three categories – best supporting actor, best set design, and best costume design.

“The festival is something that gives us amateurs feedback on what we have done, but also allows us to see what other theaters are doing. The camaraderie at such events is unforgettable,” added Zoran Jakšić, a member of the Trebinje City Theatre.

The Golden Mask for the best directorial achievement, named “Borislav Bora Gligorović,” was awarded to Svetlana Gaško for directing the play “Smetovi” performed by the Amateur Theatre of the Kisač Cultural Center.

“This is not my first award; I have been awarded twice for directing this play in Serbia. I didn’t know what to expect because this is the Festival of Festivals and the best plays from the region come here, but here it is,” said Svetlana Gaško, director of the play “Smetovi” from the Kisač Cultural Center in North Macedonia.

The seven-day Festival of Festivals in Trebinje was enriched with art exhibitions, book promotions, thematic discussions, and other accompanying events. During the festival, the audience watched seven plays.
