The Minister of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, Siniša Karan, stated that a hybrid war has been waged against Republika Srpska for 30 years in all segments, with economic warfare being one of the key aspects.
Karan pointed out that the sanctions imposed on the leadership of Srpska and certain enterprises are recognized forms of hybrid warfare that the USA and some other countries have been conducting globally for the last 30 years.
He told reporters in Banja Luka that the same situation applies to so-called ecological movements, where, through non-governmental organizations and certain media, disinformation is spread with the key goal of turning citizens against Republika Srpska and its leadership.
“You saw when we just attempted to pass a law regarding the NGO sector—merely to show where they get their foreign funding, which every country in the world has—those who finance the NGOs through which they spread disinformation were the ones who raised objections,” Karan said.
He emphasized that the best defense against hybrid warfare is to expose those conducting it and to highlight the underlying agenda of dismantling the constitutional system and order of Republika Srpska.
“I have only spoken about the economic aspects, but there are many other elements. We have survived some, and we will survive these as well,” Karan concluded.
