After eliminating Albanian champion Egnatia, Borac’s footballers have secured at least six more European matches this season. Today, after the draw in Nyon, they will find out who their potential rivals could be.
The winner of the second round Champions League qualifier between PAOK and Borac, with the first match scheduled for Wednesday at 19:30 in Thessaloniki, will be seeded in the third round. Potential opponents will be the winners of the following ties: Ludogorets (Bulgaria) vs. Dinamo (Belarus), Santa Coloma (Andorra) vs. Midtjylland (Denmark), Shamrock Rovers (Ireland) vs. Sparta Prague (Czech Republic), Malmö (Sweden) vs. KI Klaksvík (Faroe Islands), APOEL (Cyprus) vs. Petrocub (Moldova), and Panevėžys (Lithuania) vs. Jagiellonia Białystok (Poland). The Champions League draw is at 12:00.
Even if they do not advance to the third round of the top club competition, the “Red-Whites” will continue their journey on the international scene in the third qualifying round of the Europa League. They will not be seeded there, with potential rivals being the losers of the following ties: SB (Romania) vs. Maccabi Tel Aviv (Israel), Malmö vs. KI Klaksvík, Shamrock Rovers vs. Sparta Prague, Lincoln Red Imps (Gibraltar) vs. Qarabağ (Azerbaijan), Ferencváros (Hungary) vs. TNS (Wales), Bodø/Glimt (Norway) vs. RFS (Latvia). The draw is at 13:00.
Dino Skorup has become a new member of Borac. Last season, he played for GOŠK Gabela, having arrived from Šibenik last summer. In his career, he has also played for Hajduk Split and been loaned to Hrvatski Dragovoljac, Varaždin, and Šibenik. More reinforcements are expected.
“We are intensively working on bringing in a classic striker, a winger, and a midfielder. Kulašin has shown that he can adequately cover the full-back position. We have Myers, Karolina, Pejović, and Šušić for the center-back positions, but there is an idea to bring in another center-back,” said sports director Oliver Jandrić.
On the club’s radar is 28-year-old Brazilian winger Xandinho. His last engagement was in Serie D, where he played for Nova Iguaçu. This season, he has played 28 matches, scoring six goals and providing one assist. There have also been departures. Maks Juraj Čelić is no longer a member of Borac, having already been presented at Israeli club Hapoel Tel Aviv. The club has also parted ways with 21-year-old goalkeeper David Stjepanović and Maltese international Sean Dimech. PAOK is also seeking reinforcements, with CSKA Moscow striker Fyodor Chalov close to signing. Their coach, Razvan Lucescu, is pleased that Johnny Otto and Vieirinha, who were injured, are now back in training.
