Children’s Theater of Republika Srpska Successfully Concludes 68th Season

With a puppet show “The Three Little Pigs,” the Children’s Theater of Republika Srpska officially closed the 68th season of the national theater for children in Republika Srpska, marked by 184 performances.

The DPRS ensemble announced plans to open the new season with the puppet show “The Princess’s Torn Shoes,” directed by Slavcho Malenov from Bulgaria.

  • Work on this production will begin in October, alongside the 23rd International Children’s Theater Festival, which will showcase ensembles from 15 countries worldwide from October 13 to 19 – stated the Children’s Theater of Republika Srpska.

The theater reminded that the 68th season was officially opened with the premiere of “Little Red Riding Hood,” directed by Ljudmila Fedorova, followed by three more premieres: “The Tale of Little Nikola,” directed by Emilija Mrdaković, “9 Lives of Lucas the Cat,” directed by Vanja Jovanović, and “The Three Little Pigs,” directed by Branislava Stefanović.

  • The ensemble of the Children’s Theater performed 184 times in the 68th season, watched by more than 30,000 visitors. The theater performed in various municipalities and cities across Republika Srpska – Doboj, Prijedor, Mrkonjić Grad, Bileća, Gacko, Gradiška, Laktaši, Foča, Novi Grad, and other local communities, where the audience received them with enthusiasm – stated the Children’s Theater.

The theater also participated in numerous international festivals. The play “The Seven Ravens,” directed by Jakub Maksimov, won the Grand Prix at the 12th Puppet Biennial in Bugojno, along with awards for best dramaturgy and best puppet creation. The play was also in the selection of the 30th International Children’s Theater Festival in Subotica, winning the audience jury’s Grand Prix.

The play “Once Upon a Time There Was a Lion,” directed by Nikola Bundalo, participated in the third International Puppet Festival in Mostar, winning three awards: best music, an acting award for Nikola Milaković, and best actor award for Đorđe Janković. It also participated in the 29th International Puppet Festival LUT Fest in East Sarajevo, winning the “New Challenges in Puppetry” award.

  • The pinnacle of success for “The Lion” occurred at Zvezdarište, at the 18th Children’s Theater Festival “Theater Zvezdarište” in Belgrade, where the Banja Luka production was declared the best among eleven performances from the region and won the Grand Prix – stated the theater.

With performances every other day, the 68th season of the Children’s Theater marked a period of dedicated work for the youngest audience, concluding the theater.

ANKARA

One of the notable guest performances of the Children’s Theater of Republika Srpska was the play “The Lion” in Turkey.

Nikola Bundalo’s production did not leave the selector of the 19th International Children’s Theater Festival “Little Ladies and Little Gentlemen” in Ankara indifferent.

  • Our actors stayed in Ankara from April 24 to 29 and performed six shows in Turkish, organized by the General Directorate of Turkish State Theaters. On this occasion, “The Lion” was awarded the Special Plaque of the festival – stated the theater.
