Republika Srpska expects that in the coming months there will be an acceleration in European integration, said President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik after meeting with the Minister for European and Federal Affairs of the German state of Hesse, Manfred Penc.
He expressed great satisfaction with Minister Penc’s visit to Republika Srpska.
“We exchanged views on the situation in BiH and the EU,” Dodik stated.
He highlighted the importance of affirming Srpska’s commitment to moving towards European integration during the meeting with Penc.
“We want to seize this moment related to the negotiation status,” Dodik said at a press conference.
He emphasized his belief that BiH will move faster towards the EU than before.
“We think it is important for Brussels to provide a feasible framework, not a wish list that is difficult to implement. Some issues in BiH cannot be resolved for decades,” Dodik noted.
He mentioned there is an understanding of Srpska’s European path.
“We expect that after Ursula von der Leyen’s reappointment, the European path will be accelerated,” Dodik reiterated.
He mentioned discussing the relations of Srpska, Germany, and the entire region with Penc.
“It is important to say that stability and peace are here. We also cooperate with the economic structure of Germany, especially with the region from which Minister Penc comes,” Dodik said.
Dodik stated that Srpska’s positions on the High Representative and the violation of the Dayton Agreement are well known.
“I really liked the minister’s opinion that we should listen to each other and make joint decisions. Until now, politicians from the West have only wanted to impose solutions. This was a refreshing conversation for me, and I hope we will continue like this,” Dodik concluded.
