The youngest PhD holder in the field of energy in Republika Srpska and the young team leader for energy solutions at Prointer ITSS, a member of Infinity International Group, Dejan Ivić, told Srna that after the sanctions imposed by the US administration on the company he has worked for years, he has no doubts and will stay with Prointer, just as Prointer has always stood by him throughout his career.
“We need to turn to local intelligence and invest in domestic knowledge, which is not insignificant, and simply move forward without giving up,” Ivić emphasized, adding that this is one of the recipes and also a response to the American sanctions.
He stressed that he still believes that some things cannot be bought with money, and although he could have gained both money and fame anywhere in the world with his knowledge and title, he decided to remain loyal to Prointer and Republika Srpska.
There are many reasons why it never crossed his mind to leave.
He considered the local company, the environment, and the people he knows and understands well since his student days as an advantage, and this has proven true over the past few years, Ivić notes.
He admits that the question—whether the sanctions made him reconsider this stance—sounds quite logical, but he finds his optimistic answer logical as well.
“I believe that we will come out of this stronger, both as individuals and as a collective, and more importantly, we will learn an important lesson. Not everything lies in foreign investments. We have a lot of potential and knowledge here, on our home ground,” said Dejan, not hiding that the decision to sanction the company and the entire group left him with a hundred questions.
According to him, one of them is why anyone, even America, whose business solutions he knows well through his work, would think of hindering the development of an entire group and all those who mind their own business, work diligently, and improve themselves for the sake of political points and “settling scores.”
“For five years, I worked for international companies and I know very well how that world functions and what their standards are. That’s why I decided to build my career in a local company where I work with my own people, choose my collaborators, and where from day one I have had the freedom to follow global trends, improve and advance.
When I went to Belgrade last year to defend my PhD, my entire collective, and especially my colleagues from the automation sector, stood behind me, understood everything I was doing, and were an incredible support. Therefore, I owe a lot to the whole company,” Dejan emphasized.
Regarding his PhD, dealing with the automation of medium-voltage distribution networks, focusing on forming loops in distribution networks and integrating power electronics devices, he combined theory and practice.
The concrete result of all this is two completely new control algorithms that enable the implementation of these new devices on existing management systems.
“A framework for algorithms, a laboratory setup that can be practically implemented on a specific distribution network, has been created here. We at Prointer and Infinity Group are already working on something similar, and I have worked on the installation of intelligent disconnectors on one of the power lines and the establishment of a remote control system, performing testing in the field,” explains Dejan, who, due to numerous obligations and plans, will not see any changes in this new work week.
Dejan moves forward, together with his colleagues in the company they consider their second home.
