Deputies of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska will discuss the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on the Use of the Flag, Coat of Arms, and Anthem at the upcoming session, which aims to reinstate the anthem “God of Justice” and the Nemanjić coat of arms.
The draft law on amendments to the Law on the Use of the Flag, Coat of Arms, and Anthem, proposed by Nenad Stevandić, President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, states: “Together with the display of the flag and coat of arms/emblem of Republika Srpska and the performance of the anthem of Republika Srpska, flags and coats of arms and anthems of foreign countries with which Republika Srpska has signed a Special Parallel Relations Agreement, or countries with which individual or all constituent peoples or Others or citizens in Republika Srpska have a common historical, cultural, and traditional heritage, can be displayed and performed.”
As a reminder, the Nemanjić coat of arms and the anthem “God of Justice” were in use in Republika Srpska until 2007, when they were contested by the Constitutional Court of BiH. Shortly after that, to comply with the decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH, Republika Srpska adopted a new anthem “My Republic,” and the Nemanjić coat of arms was replaced with an emblem, reports Nezavisne.
