During her working visit to the Republic of Tajikistan, the Serb member of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, participated today in the 3rd International Conference “Water for Sustainable Development” for the period 2018 to 2028.

In her address to the participants, Cvijanović emphasized that this topic, upon which the future of humanity depends in the long term, is not represented in the global public discourse to the extent warranted by its importance.

She observed that the world is in great disorder, with current focus on wars, crises, and geopolitical rivalries overshadowing all other issues and urgent challenges faced by many countries and peoples.

Cvijanović highlighted that a peaceful and stable environment is a fundamental prerequisite for development and prosperity, both globally and within individual countries.

In her speech, the Serbian member of the Presidency noted that domestic hydropower potentials represent a significant developmental opportunity and an underutilized resource.

She stressed that due to this, development plans largely rely on investments in the energy sector, whose regional and global importance is greater today than ever before.

Cvijanović pointed out the importance of implementing these energy projects, with full institutional awareness of the necessity to protect the environment.

On this occasion, she expressed her gratitude to the organizers for the invitation and their efforts aimed at drawing public attention to the significance of water as an irreplaceable and vital resource for the future of humanity.
