The Director of the Institute of Historical Sciences at the University of East Sarajevo, Draga Mastilović, emphasized the importance of Serb and Russian historians resisting continuous attempts to falsify the history of World War II.
Mastilović told the Russian Gazette that in the modern world, the responsibility of Serb and Russian historians to their peoples, who made immense sacrifices in the fight against the scourge of Nazism in the 20th century, is growing.
- We are obliged, with the help of scientific arguments, to resist the continuous attempts to falsify the history of World War II in the contemporary era, said Mastilović, who will participate today in the general assembly of the Russian Historical Society at the Presidential Library of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg.
He stated that the main goal of the revisionists is the resurrection and glorification of Nazism, which can already be seen in some parts of Europe today.
- Against this backdrop, German tanks with Nazi symbols are reappearing on the Russian border, and Germany is attempting to label the Serb people as genocidal. We must resist the efforts of Western centers of power that seek to destroy the national identity of Russians and Serbs and impose their fundamental views and values on us, said Mastilović.
