Serbian Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dačić has asserted that Belgrade respects the Dayton Agreement and Republika Srpska within Bosnia and Herzegovina and will never permit the abolition of Republika Srpska.

Speaking about the resolution on Srebrenica, Dačić highlighted that there was no consensus within the tripartite Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina for its submission, rendering it an illegitimate document.

“When it comes to the Dayton Agreement, the narrative will likely move towards questioning the existence of Republika Srpska, claiming it is a ‘genocidal’ creation,” Dačić said in an interview with “Večernje Novosti.”

He noted that the future relations within Bosnia and Herzegovina will depend on the attitudes of the other two constituent nations towards the Serb population, emphasizing that Belgrade will not allow the abolition of Republika Srpska.

Commenting on the European Union’s stance towards Serbia and the fact that nearly all EU countries voted for the Srebrenica resolution, Dačić stated that Serbia harbored no illusions about Western countries changing their position.

“Europe did not turn its back on us in New York because it was never on our side. We will continue to cooperate with the EU as long as it serves our interests, but if our national interests are threatened, our response is clear,” Dačić concluded.
