Hungary will vote against the resolution on Srebrenica, stated Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó at a press conference following the meetings in Budapest. Szijjártó emphasized that the resolution deliberately or unintentionally demonizes the entire Serbian people for the tragedy in Srebrenica.
- BiH has made significant progress on its path to European integration. In March, it was decided to begin the negotiation process for EU accession. It is important that all entities and peoples in BiH contribute. The harmony that has been created in BiH and led to consensus on this issue has been disrupted by the unilateral actions of the illegitimate High Representative who unilaterally changed the Election Law. This stable situation and understanding in BiH can also be undermined by the adoption of the Srebrenica resolution in the UN, which would lead to the demoralization of the Serbian people. We believe that it is necessary to stop increasing tensions and such intentions – said Szijjártó.
Szijjártó assessed that the means for calming tensions is the accession of the Balkans to the EU.
- We are witnessing that the decisions of the EU lead not so much to calming the situation but to increasing tensions in the Western Balkans. We also believe that international political actors should end their activities in BiH and stop threatening sanctions and interfering in the internal affairs of BiH.
