As the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, I express my satisfaction with the statement made by the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, regarding Hungary’s intention to vote against the resolution on Srebrenica. This statement represents a step towards strengthening international dialogue and achieving stability in the Western Balkans, said Nenad Nešić, Minister of Security in the Council of Ministers.
“It is important to emphasize that for further progress towards the EU, as well as for the realization of sincere cooperation between Serbs, Bosniaks, and Croats, it is necessary to leave the negative aspects of the past behind. These should not be a ground for political manipulation. Only then can we together build a prosperous future for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We hope that this support will be recognized and will contribute to building trust among the three peoples in our country,” said Nešić.
Nešić added that Bosnia and Herzegovina has no future if the campaign against Serbs and the Republika Srpska continues.
“The progress and prosperity of our country require the construction of a society where the rights of all peoples and entities are respected. The focus should be on creating better living conditions for all citizens, regardless of their ethnic or political affiliation. We hope that this statement will be a step towards overcoming past divisions and continuing the path towards the EU, on which we have full agreement,” stated Nešić.
He emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina can survive “if we start thinking about the future and has no chance if political Sarajevo remains trapped in the past.”
