The Serb member of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, confirmed that she informed the UN Security Council that Denis Bećirović would be speaking at today’s session in a personal capacity, not on behalf of the Presidency or the entire BiH.
When asked by Srna if she had informed the Security Council that the Bosniak member of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović, would be speaking on his own behalf and not on behalf of BiH, Cvijanović confirmed this. She stated that Bećirović’s views are well known and not only fail to reflect the positions of everyone in BiH but are typically directed against the democratically elected representatives of the Serb people and Republika Srpska.
Asked to comment on the upcoming address by Christian Schmidt to the UN Security Council, who claims to be the High Representative, Cvijanović asserted that he would not be representing anyone, as the Security Council has not verified his status as High Representative, which is stipulated by Annex 10 of the Dayton Agreement.
“It is clear that Schmidt’s views are usually coordinated with Bosniak politics, so there will be no surprises this time either,” Cvijanović emphasized.
The UN Security Council will hold a semi-annual debate on the situation in BiH today.
The debate will begin at 4:00 PM Central European Time, and it is expected that the Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović, will participate.
Christian Schmidt will also address the participants of the debate and present his report on the state of BiH for the period from October 16 to today.
