The resolution on Srebrenica and the alleged genocide is nothing but a resolution about the Serbian people. What Serbia and Republika Srpska can do at the United Nations Security Council is to make the truth about the Serbian people known, stated Aleksandar Vulin, Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, on the show “Drugi ugao” on RTRS television.

“We cannot ask for more than that, nor can we do more. The resolution on Srebrenica has no intention of reconciling us,” Vulin said.

Commenting on the Security Council session, where this resolution is expected to be discussed, Vulin said that neither the agenda nor the date is something that can be decided upon.

“It’s a great struggle. President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić has invested a lot of effort, time, energy, and effort along with his associates to ensure that the truth reaches everyone,” emphasized Vulin.

Vulin noted that the Dayton Agreement enabled peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which means that there are no armed conflicts in the territory of BiH.

“And reconciliation. What reconciliation? Shall we reconcile by accepting that /war commander of the so-called Army of BiH in Srebrenica/ Naser Orić is a free man? That /commander of the Fifth Corps of the so-called Army of BiH/ Atif Dudaković is a hero? We cannot reconcile about the civil war in BiH, that’s not possible,” said Vulin.

Vulin questioned how the peoples in BiH can function together when the Serb people are constantly expected to admit to being genocidal.

“Is that the purpose of this resolution? Is that reconciliation? No, we cannot reconcile about that,” Vulin concluded.

The adoption of the resolution on Srebrenica stigmatizes the entire Serbian people, emphasized Milorad Bukejlović, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Republika Srpska and Minister of Justice of Srpska.

“An attempt for Republika Srpska to obtain the epithet of its origin and thus decide on its existence. What must be spoken about is the fact that the basis on which the resolution on Srebrenica was adopted and why it is unstable in that sense. Circumstances are very specific when considering a resolution when we have much bigger problems in the world,” said Bukejlović.

Bukejlović believes that the resolution on Srebrenica represents a diversion and an attempt to divert attention from real problems that are happening on a global level.

“And we are working on Bosnia and Herzegovina regressing 30 years and reviving topics on which the peoples in BiH will never agree and reconcile,” Bukejlović said.

Advisor to the President of Republika Srpska, Ognjen Tadić, stated that it is very important for citizens to know that no one wants to adopt a resolution on Srebrenica for the sake of the past.

“If someone wanted to adopt it for the sake of the past, perhaps the public in our country would treat those things as something that has already happened, someone’s need to satisfy some of their lobbying needs, so it would pass as other things have passed,” Tadić emphasized.

He said that the biggest problem with the resolution is that it is adopted for the sake of the future and that it would falsify the context of historical circumstances and political events and influence the development of events that lie ahead.
