The problem for countries in the region is adapting to new circumstances, but we must give the economy a chance, said the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik in the Central Interview at the Economic Forum on Jahorina.
He emphasized that the economy has not depended on politics as much as it does today.
- For example, many countries have imposed sanctions on Russia, and they automatically lost their supply of cheap gas. Within two to three years, the economies of Germany and some other countries declined, which was previously unthinkable. Therefore, regardless of political friction and differing views, the economy should always be given a chance – Dodik stated.
He stressed that “in the end, life will have to prevail and will have to come ahead of politics.”
- Necessity will force many to make quick decisions – Dodik stated clearly.
He said that the complexity of this region is very difficult and demanding.
- In BiH, the economic situation is much better than the political one, which is very difficult. This year, we have an increase in revenues, domestic products, and we are at a low level of indebtedness – said Dodik.
He mentioned that digitization is a priority task.
- Of course, we have problems; it’s not all smooth sailing. We see significant interference from foreign factors in public affairs, even the imposition of laws that affect the entire economic environment – Dodik pointed out.
He stated that Republika Srpska also has agricultural land at its disposal.
- During the pandemic, we were able to feed all of Srpska with the food we produce ourselves. Of course, that is not enough, but it shows that we have capacities in many fields – Dodik concluded.
