Republika Srpska is open to the region and cooperation, and we have a promising perspective, said President Milorad Dodik during the opening ceremony of the Jahorina Economic Forum.
- This shows that we were right when we started this story seven years ago on Jahorina. If nothing else, at least we push ourselves to be a little better next year – Dodik stated.
He emphasized that Republika Srpska’s decision to increase the minimum wage has led to an increase in domestic product growth.
- And we can confidently say that we will end the year with a growth of 19 billion KM – Dodik asserted.
He highlighted that today’s economy is a prisoner of geopolitics.
- Above all, the conflict in Ukraine has disrupted many things; before that, there was the COVID-19 pandemic, and now we have the conflict in Gaza. We are open to the region and cooperation, and “Open Balkan” is certainly a good opportunity – Dodik noted.
He pointed out that our market feels the problem of labor shortages.
- In these challenging times, in the last five years, we have created 5,000 new jobs. For large economies, this is insignificant, but for us, it is a very important step. Republika Srpska has never had more employees than today – Dodik stated.
He emphasized that he will listen to all the conclusions of the forum.
- We will try to implement some of them, and one of them was the abolition of VAT for the first property of young married couples – Dodik recalled.
