Investment potential of Republika Srpska presented in Abu Dhabi

The Investment-Development Bank (IRB) of Republika Srpska presented the investment potential of Republika Srpska to representatives of major global companies at the largest investment event globally – the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) in Abu Dhabi.

Acting Director of the IRB, Dražen Vrhovac, stated that this impressive gathering, attended by the largest global companies and senior officials from many countries, provides an opportunity to establish crucial contacts that he hopes will result in quality investments in Republika Srpska.

“We had a particularly significant meeting with investors from Saudi Arabia. They are particularly interested in the gasification of Republika Srpska and wish to invest in that project. We will strive to organize a meeting at the level of the Government of Republika Srpska and the interested investors,” said Vrhovac.

Vrhovac also emphasized that the IRB is using its stay in Abu Dhabi to invite foreign investors to the Second Investment Forum to be held later this year at Jahorina, along with the Fourth Investment Conference “Invest in Republika Srpska.”

In a statement, it was noted that the combined event organized by the IRB expects an even greater visit from potential foreign investors to whom new projects of the Government of Republika Srpska will be presented.

Bojan Đokić, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United Arab Emirates, stated that the participation of the IRB in the Annual Investment Meeting, which brings together people, different industries, and new technologies from all continents, is extremely important. He expressed hope that the meetings held by the IRB delegation over the past three days will be highly fruitful.

Badr Burshaid, founder and president of the Global Project Management Forum from Saudi Arabia, said after meeting with the IRB delegation that there are many untapped potentials in Republika Srpska, and cooperation can be established in various fields. “This company has invited the IRB to participate in their business event in Riyadh,” the statement said.

Jamal bin Saif Al Jarwan, Secretary-General of the Council of International Investors of the United Arab Emirates, expressed his impression with the presentation of Republika Srpska’s potentials and believes that investments can be made in several areas, including water, wood industry, and tourism.

The Annual Investment Meeting gathers investors, companies, and government officials from all over the world to discuss investment opportunities and trends, and to address the fundamental challenges that countries face on their path to development.

This event is the leading global investment platform for creating business ideas worldwide. Its goal is to stimulate positive change by creating investment opportunities, supporting solidarity, and developing economic relations among nations, as well as confronting global challenges that deeply affect economic growth.

The Annual Investment Meeting was first held in 2011 and has since grown into an event attended by representatives from 174 countries, with more than 20,000 participants, bringing together innovators and leaders of the global economy.

This year’s congress has gathered 900 speakers within 449 panels.

The Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) represents an investment platform whose aim is to assist developing countries in attracting foreign direct investment and provide a framework for global exchange on the key principles underlying international investment policies, strategies, and practices for sustainable development towards achieving smart and inclusive global growth.

For the second year in a row, the IRB delegation is participating in this event by invitation from the organizers. In addition to Vrhovac, the IRB delegation in Abu Dhabi includes Acting Executive Director for Legal Affairs and International Cooperation Ivan Vidović, Acting Executive Director for Portfolio Management Zlatko Popović, and Director of the Foreign Investment Promotion Sector Zoran Talić.
