Last night, the Dayton Peace Agreement was brutally violated in the UN Security Council by those who should protect international law. If anyone had the illusion that there wasn’t an attack on the Dayton structure of BiH on the scene, after Zlatko Lagumdžija’s presentation, those illusions are gone. For the policies represented by Lagumdžija, BiH is what they say it is, not what Dayton says – said DNS President Nenad Neshić, commenting on the UN Security Council session.
Neshić emphasizes that the Serb member of the BiH Presidency had an excellent and well-argued presentation, and it’s especially important that she emphasized that she presents the views of Republika Srpska while the views of BiH are what the Presidency of BiH determines by consensus.
“Cvijanović showed respect for the Dayton Agreement and, unlike Lagumdžija, did not abuse her position to say that these are the views of BiH. For Lagumdžija, he is the state. Do you know of any country in the world where it’s possible that after the head of state, an ambassador presents diametrically opposed views that are contrary to the foundations of its constitution!?” says Neshić.
Republika Srpska, he emphasizes, may be small, but at this moment, it’s a beacon of freedom defending international law.
“Last night, we saw what our fate would be without Republika Srpska. Unlike Lagumdžija, who had outbursts of hatred towards Republika Srpska, Serbs have always only defended the Constitution of BiH and the Dayton Peace Agreement. Since last night, I believe that no one has illusions about what our fate would be without Republika Srpska,” Neshić adds.
The DNS President also says that he supports the initiative of the President of Republika Srpska for Lagumdžija’s recall.
“I know they won’t recall him, but then they’ll have to face the consequences. Personally, I cannot be a partner with those who violate the Constitution of BiH and whose basic political agenda is to destroy Republika Srpska,” Neshić concludes.
