It’s crucial that during the UN Security Council session, it was heard that there was no position from the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the Srebrenica resolution initiated at the UN General Assembly, and that everything done on this issue is on a private basis, stated the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik.
“There’s a possibility that representatives of over five billion people worldwide won’t support that resolution. So, one dramatic minority will be in favor of it, regardless of the support from the US and other powerful countries, but not from Russia, China, and many other states,” Dodik said.
He emphasized that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is making serious efforts regarding this issue.
“The sponsors of the resolution postponed the vote in the UN General Assembly because it was clear that the sum of those who would abstain and those who would vote against would outnumber those in favor. That disqualifies it by itself. Ultimately, this procedure has caused the most damage to the victims of the Srebrenica story, where a great crime occurred, which is not disputed,” Dodik said.
He pointed out that there are the greatest authorities in the world who have dedicated their lives to studying genocide and the Holocaust, and they claim that there was no genocide in Srebrenica.
“And now we’re supposed to keep silent about it? We mustn’t say anything, we must only follow the second-rate bureaucrats who come from Britain, Germany, the US,” Dodik said.
The President of Republika Srpska noted that it was very important for the UN Security Council session to take place, during which the Serbian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović, presented the views of Republika Srpska and the situation in BiH, despite the obstructions preventing the session from happening.
Dodik said that it was unusual that the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN, Zlatko Lagumdžija, addressed the council because when a representative of a country speaks, the ambassador doesn’t speak.
“They allowed the ambassador to speak and present entirely opposite views, the views of one people in BiH, without ever mentioning that there are different opinions in BiH, without mentioning the fact that the Republika Srpska exists there,” Dodik stated.
He emphasized that this indicates that the UN Security Council and those who created this session have divided BiH in a very dramatic way.
“When you allow the ambassador to speak, knowing that there’s no position from the Presidency of BiH on the matter, then you’ve accepted to verify that division. BiH is permanently divided. After this session of the Security Council, it’s clear that BiH isn’t functioning,” Dodik concluded.
He assessed that Cvijanović presented authoritative views that were objective and weren’t just the views of Republika Srpska but showed how the situation in BiH should be addressed.
Regarding the speech by the Slovenian representative at the UN about how people in BiH should live, Dodik said that it raises the inevitable question of why Slovenia left Yugoslavia.
“If you had an issue with multi-ethnicity, why did you initiate the question of separation and separate from Yugoslavia? Why did you think you’re someone who should lecture us now? As if we don’t know anything about what you did, how you did it, how you initiated separation, and now you’re lecturing us on how we should work,” Dodik remarked.
He viewed this as a cynical, not well-intentioned attitude or suggestion on how things should be done.
