President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, stated today before departing from New York to Belgrade that he is proud of the fight Serbia conducted at the UN and assessed that it will leave a mark both on the voting regarding the Srebrenica resolution and later in bilateral relations.
“I am proud of how we fought in the UN because when you fight for your country, it is your duty to do everything you can. Serbia is fighting for its territory and freedom and will continue to do so, and it is our job to protect the interests of our country, everywhere,” Vučić posted on his Instagram profile.
Vučić emphasized that he asked for support and assistance.
“In the UN, everything is intense. It’s good that we spent a lot of time here; it will leave a mark both on the actual voting and later in our bilateral relations,” he said.
According to the president, there is still much work ahead for Serbia and its leadership and representatives.
“We still have to continue fighting, to hold our heads high after everything, and then to dedicate ourselves to further progress of Serbia,” President Vučić mentioned on Instagram.
Vučić was in New York on Monday evening representing Serbia at a UN Security Council session where the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ six-month report on the work of UNMIK was presented.
During his stay in New York, before the General Assembly session where the proposed Srebrenica resolution was discussed in early May at the UN headquarters, Vučić held a series of consultations with representatives of UN member states to explain Serbia’s position on the announced resolution.
