President Serbia Aleksandar Vučić continued his discussions in New York with UN officials and member states to oppose the adoption of the Srebrenica resolution, highlighting that the President of the General Assembly, Denis Francis, informed him that Germany is particularly committed to the adoption of this document.

Vučić posted on Instagram that the sponsors of this resolution do not want any delay in the voting.

“It is clear that all we have left are the final preparations to fight for the honor and dignity of Serbia. None of the proposers care about the Dayton Agreement they are trampling on, nor do they care about stability in our region; all they want is collective punishment for the Serb people. We have understood their message and will fight to the end,” emphasized Vučić.

During a meeting with the Permanent Representative of Mexico to the UN, Hector Vasconcelos, Vučić informed this country about the facts and Serbia’s position regarding the imposition of the Srebrenica resolution draft on the UN General Assembly agenda, as well as the unforeseeable consequences of breaching procedures and the basic tenets upon which the UN is founded.

“I pointed out the essential problems and the harm that voting, forced in this way, would cause regarding trust and unity among nations and countries in the world, and primarily concerning the stability and coexistence of people in the Western Balkans,” Vučić posted on Instagram.

He added that he reiterated that Serbia would use every political and diplomatic tool, as well as its reputation in the UN, to oppose pressures, blackmail, and baseless accusations, and to preserve its dignity as well as the credibility of the UN.

In a conversation with the UN Under-Secretary and Special Advisor on the Prevention of Genocide, Alice Wairimu Nderitu, Vučić pointed out the dangerous and serious revisionism of principles that are built into the very foundations of the UN.

“I emphasized that adopting the resolution would lead to the relativization of the very concept of genocide, as the most heinous form of planned and systematic extermination of people and ethnic groups, which humanity has unfortunately witnessed several times in recent history,” Vučić stated.

Vučić expressed concern that adopting this resolution could lead to further conflicts in the future and highlighted the need for everyone, under the auspices of the UN, to commit to justice being served in a way that promotes peace and reconciliation.
