Vranješ: Attacks on a historically significant but small nation will not go unanswered

From Trg Krajine in Banja Luka, at the large public rally “Republika Srpska Calls You,” a clear message of Serbian unity was sent, even though opposition representatives were not present, stated Aleksandar Vranješ, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Ambassador to Serbia, to RTRS.

“Serb unity was demonstrated, united around a common issue. Attacks on a numerically small, but historically significant nation will not go unanswered. We will remain united,” Vranješ declared.

He emphasized that Serbia is very active in efforts to publicize that the proposed resolution on Srebrenica is nonsensical.

“This could have negative consequences, both among the peoples and on an international level. Serbia will show that both Serbia and the Serbs have friends who understand us and do not wish to participate in this farce,” said Vranješ.

He noted that the issue itself is being politicized and that a number of countries have recognized this.

“I will remind you that the Iranian Ambassador to Serbia, Rashid Hassan Pur Baei, has stated that the West has no good intentions and is not sincere when it comes to Srebrenica,” Vranješ mentioned.

He asserts that no one denies the victims and that a crime did occur, questioning who benefits from turning back the clock 29 years today.

“The resolution on Srebrenica is not about empathetic relations with the victims but has other interests related to new charges of Islamophobia,” Vranješ believes.

He highlighted that tragic facts in the Middle East will not be covered by any UN resolution, as they are not relevant to the collective West. However, by adopting the resolution on Srebrenica, they would demonstrate to the world that they are not Islamophobes but rather empathetic friends of Balkan Muslims.
