The public gathering “Republika Srpska Calls You” demonstrated the unity and solidarity of the Serb people, sending a clear message that no compromises will be accepted that could in any way tarnish the honor and reputation of the Serb struggle for freedom, political scientist Vojislav Savić announced.
Savić believes that in this respect, the public rally “Republika Srpska Calls You” met expectations and fulfilled its two primary functions.
“The first and foremost is for us as a people to come together internally and demonstrate unity and solidarity, to stand behind our fundamental values. Freedom has no price, but it is not guaranteed; it must always be proven and earned anew. In wars, we die for it, and in peace, we achieve it in other ways, but it certainly does not fall from the sky nor comes on its own,” Savić stated to Srna News Agency.
He mentioned that the second function of this assembly was to send a message to others, those who have closely monitored every step of the leadership and people of Republika Srpska.
“And I think the message to them is clear – we will not accept compromises that would in any way tarnish the honor and reputation of our struggle for freedom,” emphasized Savić.
Regarding the Electoral Law of Republika Srpska, he believes that this law does not in any way derogate from the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“On the contrary, everything said and done in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska is based on the principles of the Dayton Peace Agreement. The position of Republika Srpska is clear and transparent; there are no hidden intentions,” said Savić.
Savić also considers it impossible to gather such a number of people or organize such an event in Sarajevo.
“Because no one is fighting for an idea, but against Republika Srpska, and that is as clear as day,” he highlighted.
He explained that when the people feel threatened, they respond with a rally, and this is a response to provocation and ill-intent.
“Other conclusions, as well as the report of the Independent Commission on the Suffering of Inhabitants of All Faiths and Nationalities from the Srebrenica area and its surroundings throughout the entire war, are objective and precise documents, which will be useful to future researchers of the war and conflicts in the former Yugoslavia and Bosnia and Herzegovina,” believes Savić.
Savić is of the opinion that both the rally and the adoption of the Electoral Law of Republika Srpska were forced moves and that Republika Srpska is compelled to defend itself.
“And, Western and Bosniak media try to portray it as if someone is being attacked, which is inaccurate and senseless,” pointed out Savić.
He noted that it is necessary to look at the bigger picture and consider the continuous efforts of high representatives and international politicians to dismantle Republika Srpska’s power and forcibly unitarize Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“They show the picture upside down, but it is our task to show how it truly is – and this is achieved through clear, transparent messages, public support, and national unity, both in institutions like the National Assembly and through rallies and other democratic methods of the modern era,” Savić stated.
The public gathering “Republika Srpska Calls You,” held on Thursday, April 18th in Banja Luka, was attended by approximately 50,000 citizens and proceeded peacefully without any incidents, as reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska. The event was organized by the Municipal Organization of Families of Captured and Killed Fighters and Missing Civilians of Srebrenica.
