The thematic exhibition “Reunion” by Dragan Kovačević will open tonight at 7 PM in the “Vrbas Banovina” exhibition space at Banski Dvor.

The exhibit revisits June 8, 1922, the wedding of Romanian Princess Maria and Yugoslav King Alexander I Karađorđević, attended by lawyer, national deputy, and later Ban of the Vrbas Banovina, Dr. Todor Lazarević, and his wife Nada. This event marked her first public appearance after their wedding held on May 6 that year.

  • Visitors will have the opportunity to see a replica of Queen Maria of Yugoslavia’s wedding dress and pieces of jewelry, a gift from King Alexander, crafted by fashion designer Aleksandar Petarić, as part of the exhibition from the National Museum in Valjevo. A replica of one of the most beautiful evening gowns of Banica Nada Lazarević, adorned with about 5,000 crystal stones, will also be displayed. The gown was reconstructed in the atelier of the “Svetozar Marković” Cultural Center in Zrenjanin, overseen by director Boško Šerbula – announced by Banski Dvor.

They added that this emotionally colored historical reminiscence would demonstrate the remarkable similarity in the life stories of Princess Maria and Nada, daughter of Banja Luka’s city engineer Petar Miljević, who were ahead of their time in many ways yet respected traditional values. The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the “Ban Dr. Todor Lazarević” Foundation.
