Radovan Kovačević, Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) OSCE delegation, informed the President of the Albanian Parliament, Lindita Nikolla, and the Minister for European Integration of Albania, Majlinda Duka, that external meddling in BiH affairs has currently stalled the positive momentum of the country on its European path.
Kovačević, who also serves as a Serb delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, shared insights about the achievements BiH has made recently in European integration, which led to obtaining candidate status and, eventually, the initiation of accession negotiations with the EU.
He highlighted that this progress is now paused due to external interference in BiH relations, expressing hope that local factors within BiH will find a way to overcome the current crisis, according to a statement from the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.
It was jointly acknowledged that the future of Balkan countries lies within the EU and that concerted efforts are necessary to expedite the integration of all Balkan countries into the EU.
Nikolla and Duka, who is also the chief negotiator for Albania with the EU, assured Kovačević that Albania is ready to share its experiences in the European integration process with BiH. The discussion also touched on Albania’s consideration of using artificial intelligence to more rapidly respond to Brussels’ demands.
Kovačević participated in the Interparliamentary Forum of Southeast European countries at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Tirana.
On the last day of the Forum in Tirana, discussions focused on attracting foreign investments to Southeast Europe and examples of regional solidarity in dealing with natural disasters in 2014 and 2019.
At the end of the meeting, parliamentarians from participating countries adopted a declaration emphasizing the importance of regional cooperation and continued collective efforts through such events.
