Košarac-Kalabukhov: Support for the Dayton Peace Agreement and Mutual Agreement

Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers Staša Košarac discussed today in Sarajevo with the Russian Federation’s Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Igor Kalabukhov, emphasizing Russia’s support for the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement and the agreement between the two entities and three constitutive peoples.

Košarac reiterated that for Republika Srpska, the attempts by Christian Schmidt, who lacks legitimacy and legality, to model the constitutional order in BiH are unacceptable, warning of Schmidt’s harmful decisions, stating that he is a major obstacle to internal agreements, and a key disruptive factor in BiH.

The meeting also highlighted that thanks to Republika Srpska, BiH has not imposed sanctions on the Russian Federation, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers, which is headed by Košarac.

The meeting discussed BiH’s accession to the World Trade Organization, with Košarac informing Kalabukhov about the meetings he had recently in Geneva.

Košarac also updated Kalabukhov on the outcomes of the meetings held by the directors of BiH’s Office for Veterinary and Plant Health Protection with competent Russian authorities in Moscow, focusing on enhancing bilateral trade for mutual benefit.

Both parties acknowledged the need to sign an agreement on the protection and enhancement of investments between BiH and the Russian Federation, agreeing that this would provide an excellent framework for potential investors, especially given that Russia was the largest foreign investor in BiH in the past nine months, with investments amounting to 342 million KM.

On this occasion, Kalabukhov presented Košarac with an invitation from the advisor to the President of the Russian Federation, Anton Kobyakov, to participate in the 27th International Economic Forum in Saint Petersburg this June.
