“It is important that you have not given up on yourself and your identity. We must remain committed to our faith, script, language, and family patron saint day,” stated Milorad Dodik, President of the Republika Srpska, during a roundtable with representatives of the Serb diaspora in the French capital.
“Serbs are a people who have always stood in the face of giants. We stood against the Ottoman Empire, Austro-Hungary, Hitler, and NATO. The Serb nation is a suffering nation,” Dodik declared.
He emphasized that Serbs have always liberated others by making the ultimate sacrifice.
“Remain faithful members of the Serb community. Do not forget your roots and homeland. There will come a historic moment when Republika Srpska and Serbia will unite,” Dodik added.
The event was attended by Željko Budimir, Minister of Science, Technology Development, and Higher Education of Republika Srpska, and Bojana Kondić Panić, the BiH Ambassador to France, and began with the anthem of Republika Srpska, “My Republic.”
Earlier today, President Dodik conveyed to French senators in Paris that Christian Schmidt, who lacks legitimacy and legality, is attempting to reshape the constitutional order in BiH, and that Republika Srpska, if Schmidt intervenes regarding property, will have no choice but to defend its status by declaring independence.
Dodik also highlighted the connection between the French state and people with the Serbs, noting the monument dedicated to Kings Peter I Karađorđević and Alexander the Unifier, where he laid wreaths. From this site, he reminded everyone of the immeasurable sacrifices and contributions of the Serbian people towards freedom during World War I. Although past relations with France had waned, he remarked, this occasion should also remind their political leaders of shared glorious days and the role of this state in implementing the Dayton Peace Agreement.
