The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, announced plans for a major public rally against all procedures that are initiated improperly, stating that if necessary, it is inevitable to declare independence. This statement comes in response to the potential placement of the Srebrenica resolution on the agenda of the UN General Assembly.
“I have said publicly and I reiterate, no genocide occurred. We believe this is a direct attempt to undermine the possibility of coexistence in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It falsely represents the situation in BiH and is directly aimed against Republika Srpska and the Serb people as a whole,” Dodik explained.
He expressed gratitude towards the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, who could have chosen not to engage with this issue but decided otherwise.
“First and foremost, Republika Srpska will hold a session in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, along with organizing a large public rally. In Srebrenica, on the same territory, 3,500 Serbs were killed, which has been dismissed, while only the suffering of Bosniaks is mentioned. This continues a pattern of ignoring the Serbs. I am grateful for Vučić’s support,” said Dodik.
If the Srebrenica resolution is brought to a vote in the UN General Assembly, Dodik mentioned that Republika Srpska sees no reason to remain as part of Bosnia and Herzegovina and will adjust its status to move forward independently.
