The Minister of Justice of Republika Srpska, Miloš Bukejlović, believes that the Government’s call for the members of the election bodies from Republika Srpska to resign has a purpose, as it must be understood that the enactment and implementation of its electoral law are planned in Republika Srpska.

“The Government’s decision was made with the aim of protecting the interests of Republika Srpska. It is justified and necessary given that the electoral law of Republika Srpska is being drafted, which implies the return of rights to the Republic and the improvement of the electoral process,” said Bukejlović.

He stated that the issue of the electoral law requires a new legal framework, for which bodies participating in the electoral process in Republika Srpska will be formed.

“The issue of elections, as a constitutional matter of special significance for Republika Srpska and its citizens, as well as the fact that Republika Srpska has a legal basis for organizing and conducting elections on its territory, requires a new legal framework that will regulate the formation of bodies participating in the electoral process,” added Bukejlović for Srna.

The President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Nenad Stevandić, stated today that the session, at which the proposal for the electoral law of Republika Srpska will be discussed, will be held before April 20.
