Minister of Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska, Petar Đokić, told RTRS that the visit of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and the economic delegation has once again confirmed Hungary’s commitment to cooperation with Republika Srpska.

Đokić stated that Hungary is interested in cooperating on energy projects, reminding that projects worth 140 million KM have been agreed upon.

“For a long time, we have had constant communication and cooperation with Hungarian companies in the field of energy projects. This cooperation has been significantly enhanced by the development of bilateral relations between Hungary and Republika Srpska, in which the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, who has built a high level of understanding with Prime Minister Orbán regarding the position of Republika Srpska and the Serbian people as well as the policies that Republika Srpska implements, and in that way, its economic activities play the most important role,” Đokić told RTRS.

He mentioned that Republika Srpska has signed a contract with a Hungarian company for the construction of the “Trebinje 1” solar power plant, and that this project is in the preparatory phase for full implementation.

Đokić emphasized that Republika Srpska actively invests in the energy sector and that significant steps have been made in economic development.

“The goal is to strengthen the role of the Power Utility, for it to be the bearer of major projects, and to preserve the energy stability and independence of Republika Srpska,” Đokić said.

He stated that Republika Srpska has a bright future in the field of energy, especially in green energy sources.
