The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, announced that Republika Srpska will adopt its own election law by April 20th.

He emphasized Republika Srpska’s right to have its own law.

“The Central Election Commission (CIK) of BiH has no business here. We will conduct elections according to our law,” Dodik stated clearly.

He mentioned that Christian Schmidt is a private individual and considered illegitimate.

“What he has now ‘imposed’ regarding the Election Law of BiH is aimed at subjugating Republika Srpska to the institutions of BiH. Allegedly, he gave the right to CIK to appoint all chairpersons of electoral boards and to transfer them into the status of state professional officials. This will never happen,” Dodik declared.

He also commented on the announced meeting between Schmidt and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.

“We understand the situation in which President Vučić is in.”

“Schmidt is illegitimate; he is not the one to speak about property. What he announced and wanted to say to Schmidt’s face is, ‘enough with the talk about the spirit of the Dayton Agreement, show us where and what is written, and then we will talk,'” Dodik elaborated.

He expressed his satisfaction with hearing that in Serbia, institutions receive Schmidt, not as a high representative.

“All he wants is to gain some legitimacy. Hence, he massively lies when he says he protects Republika Srpska. Show us a single action they have carried out that was in favor of Republika Srpska,” Dodik stated.

He highlighted that Schmidt has nothing to show regarding the property issue.

“We have proposed a way to resolve the property issue and are always ready to sit down with the Federation of BiH, not with Schmidt,” Dodik said.
