Darko Banjac, President of the People’s Party of Republika Srpska, emphasized that Republika Srpska should enact its own election law and be resolute about it.

Banjac highlighted that there is no more time to wait.

“We cannot wait for the moment, because the moment was 25 years ago. We yielded, bowed our heads, said ‘it will be better, they will give us something too.’ They didn’t give us anything, just took,” Banjac said at a special session of the National Assembly on the current security-political situation in the world from the perspective of its repercussions on Republika Srpska.

He said that the Serb people should remain united in defending their customs, traditions, and freedom.

Banjac stated that Republika Srpska is a grain in the global security situation, and added that the question arises as to why so much is talked about that grain in the world.

“Maybe because we are where we are and because of what we want to defend, and that is the constitutiveness and the Dayton Peace Agreement,” Banjac said.

He mentioned that attempts to undermine this have been ongoing for 25 years, to nullify the basic principles of democracy, and that this has been intensively happening in the last two years through the actions of the illegal Christian Schmidt, as well as the process against the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, before the Court of BiH.

“They are judging the president because he respected the Constitution of Srpska. So, they want to tell us – this is your path to the EU. Then we have nothing to seek there. That should not be our path,” Banjac said.

According to him, the path to the EU should be Schmidt’s path, who should sit in a car and leave.

“And may our eyes no longer see him, because we don’t need him here,” Banjac concluded.
