The head of the SNSD parliamentary group in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Igor Žunić, stated today that the cooperation agreement between the parliament of Srpska and the State Duma of the Russian Federation is a historic agreement of great importance for Srpska. This agreement, which crowns the existing parliamentary cooperation, also represents a diplomatic success.

“As far as I know, the Russian Duma has never signed such an agreement with a legislative body that is not at the state level. This is significant both legislatively and for our national cooperation, as well as for all relations we have with Russia in the fields of culture, education, sports, and all those things that bind us as people, as Slavs, and as two friendly nations,” Žunić told Srna.

According to him, the Russian Duma is a body where very important decisions are made concerning the whole world.

He expressed confidence that this agreement will enable students from Srpska to study in Russia in the coming period and facilitate cooperation in culture, emphasizing that this is a basis for the parliamentarians of Srpska to learn from their Russian counterparts and to follow some Russian examples in the legislative sphere.

The President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Nenad Stevandić, and the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Vyacheslav Volodin, signed the cooperation agreement between the two parliaments on March 19 in Moscow. They emphasized the need for deputies to legally implement the decisions of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and Srpska, Milorad Dodik, as expected by their citizens.
