Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Elena Guskova, stated that it is of great significance that Russia has initiated a discussion in the UN Security Council about the NATO aggression on the FR Yugoslavia. However, it is equally important for people to understand who is against this discussion.

Guskova mentioned that Russia would advocate for the entire system of both the Security Council and the UN to be significantly amended to prevent one or two countries, like the USA or the United Kingdom, from dictating terms to others.

Even if the initiative does not pass in the UN Security Council, Guskova emphasized that it is crucial for Russia, and personally for her, that it was launched due to the debt owed to the Serbs who defended justice in the world in 1999.

“Because we owe it to the Serbs for the nineties and for 1999. Now something needs to be done so that Serbia does not turn to the other side,” she said, adding that Republika Srpska has been consistent.

Guskova reminded that Russian foreign policy at that time was wavering, but the Russian people managed to do something for the Serb people.

“First and foremost, it was the Russian people who, on the second day of the aggression on the FR Yugoslavia, took to the streets, which our then government did not expect. They thought the Russians would sleep through it, which did not happen because people protested in front of the embassies of all NATO member states and organized support rallies in front of the Embassy of the FR Yugoslavia,” said Guskova, who is also a senator of Republika Srpska.

She emphasized that banks, companies, and ordinary people brought money, gold, and jewelry to the Embassy of the FR Yugoslavia to express support for the Serb people.

“Serbs defended justice in the world in 1999. It took time for us to have new governance in Russia in 2000 to understand what happened so that they could build a new Russia. Now we are together, Russians and Serbs, looking together at how our entire planet should be,” said Guskova.

She believes that Serbs just need to endure a little longer because, as she mentioned, Russia will win by 2025 and build a new world and a new planet.

“Russians and Serbs will dictate how and what will be. We will dictate the negotiations with the West, not them,” Guskova stated.

She pointed out that for the first time in 25 years since the NATO aggression on the FR Yugoslavia, all television and radio stations in Russia are paying attention to this topic, and institutions are organizing appropriate events.

“Previously, it was less pronounced, but now it is much more noticeable, which means that both we and you are aware of our role in this period,” Guskova told Srna.

A session of the UN Security Council is planned for tomorrow at Russia’s request, marking 25 years since the NATO aggression on Yugoslavia.

“The two chambers of the Federal Assembly of Russia are addressing the UN, international parliamentary organizations, and the parliaments of foreign states with a call to condemn the NATO countries’ military operation against Yugoslavia, to oppose attempts to change the historical truth about the tragic events of 1999 in the interest of the collective West, and to take measures to hold the Alliance members internationally accountable for the aggression against Yugoslavia,” the address states.

The text highlights that the fact the Alliance’s attack on Yugoslavia went unpunished created conditions for new military actions worldwide under the guise of fighting “for the values of freedom and democracy”.

The President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Nenad Stevandić, told Srna that the initiative by deputies of the Russian State Duma and the Federation Council calling for the international legal and moral accountability of NATO countries for the aggression against the FR Yugoslavia in 1999 will be submitted to the competent bodies of the National Assembly of Srpska to be adopted in the parliament.
